I have known Brian since I was 5 and he was 6. We were next door neighbors in Winnipeg. We always hung around together, and it was Brian who suggested I move to Edmonton in 1978. He allowed me to stay at his house until I found an apt. We golfed together, played football, and racquetball over all those years. Brian was always there, for anyone who needed help. He always donated to various charities, and once the word got out, they would never leave him alone, but he kept donating anyway. He was the most honest person I have ever known in my life. You will always be my best friend Brian and I know you will have a seat on main stage in Heaven with only the best. Rest in peace, my friend...... - Posted by: Keith Irvine (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2019

As one of the younger cousins on the Thorvaldson side, I really only got to know Brian when he was already a late teen/early adult. During our frequent family visits to Auntie Violet's and Uncle Colin's house in Winnipeg Brian always took the time and interest to engage with me, whether it was talking about science, explaining Judo moves, or helping me learn how to play chess. His close relationship with my older brother Gary often left me feeling that I actually had two older brothers who helped me learn some of life's lessons. I remember his sense of humour and good-natured teasing that was always good for laughter but never left me feeling hurt or sad. Later in life, Wendy and I had some opportunity to visit with Brian but, regrettably, that was not often enough. We did appreciate receiving his Christmas cards with their little notes of interest and whimsy! Signy, Charlene, Gillian, and family, Wendy and I are not able to be there for the funeral/memorial but know that you are all in our hearts and thoughts at this time. - Posted by: John (Brent) and Wendy Russell (Cousin) on: Jul 12, 2018
