CHRISTY-LYNN DESLAURIERS July 23, 1957 - July 5, 2018 Sadly on July 5, 2018, Christy passed away at the age of 60 years. Christy was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer early in 2018 and faced her time left with courage, bravery, stoicism and dignity. Chris was a Barber Stylist in Winnipeg for 40 years of which, in the last five years, she established a "small town" barbershop, Burrow's Road Men's Barberie, in McCreary, Mb. Christy loved her customers and they loved her. She would say "I love my job - I get to laugh with friends all day". The Riding Mountain area was her favourite place for camping, fishing and exploring. Unfortunately, after her latest winter Island trip in March, 2018, cancer decided to knock at her door and "some company never leaves". Soft hearted, kind, generous, selfless and well-meaning to all she came into contact with. If Christy was your friend you had a REAL friend and if you were a stray cat you weren't stray anymore. Determined, hard working and very self resourceful, she was a do-it-herself kind of girl taking on large scale home reno's as well as completely gutting and rebuilding the barbershop. And no one made pickles like Christy. Predeceased by Shirley Porteous (mother) in 2010 and Howard Deslauriers (brother) in 2017. Christy is survived by her father Peter Deslauriers; brother Shane Deslauriers (Donna); nephew and godson P.J. Deslauriers (Olivia); niece Nicolette Deslauriers; as well her "bestie" Linda, an angel who stayed by her side throughout Christy's most difficult journey. Many thanks to my wonderful family and to Linda for her limitless help in these last few months. At Christy's request no service will be held. "THE BARBERSHOP IS NOW CLOSED - LET'S GO FISHING!"
