GEORGE WILSON
Born: Sep 15, 1933
Date of Passing: Jul 10, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE WILSON Our dad, grandpa and husband, George Wilson, passed away July 10, 2018, at the Victoria Hospital. George was born September 15, 1933, in Winnipeg to Margaret and Allan Wilson. George leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Arlene; his children, Geordie (Jill) and Tannis; his grandchildren, Troy, Paige and Rocky; his sisters, Barbara (Stan) and Shirley (Jack), and many nieces and nephews. George was an entrepreneur for most of his life in the plumbing industry. His three great passions were football, the cottage and his golden retrievers. George fell in love with football while attending Daniel Mac in grade 10 and 11. He transferred to Tec Voc in 1951, and was the captain of the first Hornet football team. After his playing career was over, he began coaching with the St. Vital Sr. Bulldogs and helped guide them to multiple national championships. He was a coach and board member for the St. Vital Mustangs for decades, president of Football Manitoba and on the board of the CAFA. He was inducted into the Hall of Fames for Sport Manitoba, Football Manitoba and the St. Vital Mustangs. He loved his Bombers and we had joked for the past five years that the Bombers better win another Grey Cup before he died. Sadly, that never happened, but we know he will have the best seat in the house this year in Edmonton! We know he loved us dearly and would do anything for us, and we felt the same way. Dad, we will miss you so much! In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to an animal shelter or amateur football program of your choice if you wish. The family is having a private memorial.

Well it’s been almost 4 years. Feels like yesterday, feels like 100 years ago. I miss you. I’d give anything to be arguing with you right now. Love you - Posted by: Tannis (Daughter) on: Jun 07, 2022

I first met George in grade 3 at Wellington School. From that day we were chums. Most memorable were time spent at the cottage at West Hawk Lake . George thru a memorable going away party for me when I left for Ottawa as an RCMP cadet. Our paths crossed occasionally after that when we shared memories of the good times. A good man, gone too soon. - Posted by: Don Campbell (Boyhood Friend) on: Aug 31, 2018

My deepest condolences to Arlene, Tannis, Geordie, and the Wilson family.I have known George and the Wilson family for decades and was a Board Member of the Mustangs with'Peckerhead' for many years. George was a passionate man devoting his love of life and animals, and passion for sport through family and football. I am saddened to hear of his passing, the loss to our Mustangs family, and to the Manitoba football community. George was the driving force of St. Vital football in the 80's and was the leader in the construction, and relocating of the football program to Maple Grove. I am sure he's fishing every day, and still cheering all football games from the sidelines... We love and miss you George! - Posted by: Craig Bachynski (Friend) on: Jul 21, 2018
