ISAAC FRANK WIENS 1917 - 2018 Peacefully, at Deer Lodge Centre, on July 11 our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away. Born on April 6, 1917 in Schoenfeld, Russia, "Ike" immigrated with his family to Canada in 1924, settling in Glenlea in 1925. After completing his education, he taught in various communities throughout Manitoba. In the Second World War Ike served his country as an Aero Engine Mechanic in the R.C.A.F. During the 1950 flood he served as a flood damage appraiser, returning to teaching until his retirement in 1975 when he began a second career in real estate. He took on leadership roles in his church, teacher associations, and community organizations. He loved to golf, spend time at his beloved Ponemah, and recount stories of his life. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie McGougan in 1970, his second wife, Dorothy MacLean, in 1991, and his third wife, Joanne Beckert in 2017. Left to celebrate his life are daughters, Wendy Nesbitt (David), Hong Kong and Alison McCallen (Jim), Colorado, grandchildren, Laurie, James (Melissa), Jonathan (Kaya), Michael (Katie), Kathryn (Brent), Andrew (Leslie), and great-grandchildren, Annaliese, Christian, Camilla, Jake, Emily Quinn, Luna, Ben, and Anna. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Our family first came into contact with Ike Wiens and his family in July, 1967 when we moved into a cottage two doors down from the venerable Dunvegan. Since that time our families have been inextricably connected, watching families grow and change, supporting each other when needed and enjoying the pleasures and beauty of a Ponemah summer day. We will all treasure those days in our hearts. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Love Irene, Pat, Martha and families. - Posted by: Pat Lewicki (Ponemah neighbor) on: Jul 18, 2018

  • Uncle Ike was such a vibrant, strong, interesting individual. R.I.P uncle Ike. - Posted by: Karin Wiens (Great-niece) on: Jul 16, 2018
