Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID (DEVIK) POGREBICKY March 22, 1940 - July 20, 2017 His life was a blessing, his memory is as well. While he has been gone a year, his imprint on our lives is immeasurable. He is missed dearly by family and friends. My father David came to Canada in 1974, travelling to a new country not knowing the language or the place where he would eventually settle. He built a life in Winnipeg working as a denturist and establishing his own practice in the North End. He helped many patients. Once called the "Philosopher King of Main Street", he loved to share his opinion and engage in discussion on a variety of subjects. He was engaged in his community, helping many newcomers to the city. He was once locally mistaken for Pavarotti. He enjoyed playing the guitar and writing his own songs, and poetry. Basically, he loved to entertain and make people laugh. He had a joke for any occasion. When my mother, Irina, became ill he became her primary caregiver. When she passed, he never quite found his way again. He mourned her loss and the loss of other loved ones greatly. He was helped a great deal in his last days by caring home care workers and compassionate first responders. We are very thankful for their assistance. He had a special smile, a special face; he made a toast like no one else. I hope he found peace with the Angels whom he has joined. Natasha
