SARAH GOLUMBIA Peacefully surrounded by family, Sarah Golumbia passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 99 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Israel Kasloff, her beloved husband David and her brother Zachary Kasloff (Josephine). She is survived by her sister Shirley Garfinkel (Irvin) and many devoted nieces and nephews. She has left a great void in the lives of her loving and devoted family; daughters, Reesa Niznick (Gerald), Elaine Golumbia and her son Sheldon Golumbia. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Lisa Leonard, Amy Konheim (Jon), Jennifer Stitz and Hart Stitz, and by her great-grandchildren, Dana, Emily and Andrew Leonard, Ashley, Haley and Carly Konheim. Sarah was born April 18, 1919 in Winnipeg and was raised in a very warm and closely knit family. She married David in 1942 and they enjoyed a wonderful married life until his passing in 1995. Their legacy to our family is a treasured gift to us that will be passed on to our families for generations. Our mom was a positive thinker, appreciating all aspects of her life. She loved and cherished her family and friends. By her zest for life, devotion to family and sense of humour, she was a role model and an inspiration to us. Although heartbroken, we are filled with love and appreciation for the many years of beautiful memories she created for us. A special thank you to Trinidad Solano for her kindness, care and compassion provided to our mother over the past nine years. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 22 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with interment at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rabbi Anibal Mass. Pallbearers were Gerald Niznick, Hart Stitz, Andrew Leonard, Jon Konheim, Ted Kasloff, Harvey Garfinkel, Alex Garfinkel and Joel Niznick. Honorary pallbearers were Irvin Garfinkel and Jerry Webb. If so desired, contributions may be made in Sarah's memory to the charity of your choice. A very long life, very well lived.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I was so saddened to learn of your mom's passing. From the time I was a little girl your parents were regular visitors and friends with my parents. Amazing that she outlived my mom, one of her best friends by 21 years, almost to the day. Our deepest condolences Reesa Margolis-Devlin - Posted by: Reesa Margolis Devlin (Family friends) on: Sep 15, 2018

  • My father Maurice Condon hailed from Macrorie, SK where I believe he knew your father Dave. The family moved to Niverville, MB in 1937 and over the years had occasional contact with both your father and mother. I know your father was to our farm in June, 1990 to celebrate the 90th birthday of my uncle Don Condon. While my parents have both passed I know my dad would like me to send condolences on the loss of your mother. May she rest in peace. On behalf of Maurice Condon; from Bill Condon Winnipeg, MB - Posted by: Bill Condon (Distant acquaintance) on: Jul 26, 2018
