ERNA THIES It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erna Thies (nee Reinsch) in Henderson, Nevada on July 7, 2018. She was born the second of eight children on October 6, 1921 in Schonwaldchen, East Prussia and was predeceased by her husband Rudolf in 2005, after 60 years of marriage. Leaving behind to mourn her are her three children: Hannelore-Hanni (Hans-Dieter), Klaus (Edeltraut-Edie) and Burglinde-Linde (Ron), four grandchildren: Susan (Les), David (Caroline), Christopher (Joni), Ron Jr. (Jackie) and 13 great-grandchildren. The family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1954. Not knowing anyone, as well as not speaking very much English, proved very difficult. Nonetheless, they both worked hard and succeeded in making a better life for themselves and their three children. Erna enjoyed camping out in the Whiteshell, family times at their cottage at Eleanor Lake, and in later years spending winters in Las Vegas with Linde and Ron. A memorial service will be held in Pinawa, Manitoba at the Pinawa Lutheran Church on August 5 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Louis Pallisier officiating. Erna was a strong, caring, loving and beautiful person who took great pride in her family. We all will miss her very much.
