GRACE PARR The family of Grace Parr are deeply saddened to announce her death on July 18, 2018, of an opioid overdose. Left to mourn her loss are her parents, Jeff Parr and Martha Elliott of Edmonton and her sister Mary. Also mourning her loss are Gracie's birth parents, Tracey Thomas (Kirk) of Saskatoon and half-sister Emma and Tim Daniels (Alyse) of Grenfell and their children. Gracie was beautiful, passionate, sensitive and creative. She had a huge heart and fiercely loved her family and friends, animals and children. She was an amazing artist, a fan of all things anime and manga and changing her hair colour as frequently as possible. Grace was an enthusiastic Marilyn Manson fan, loved to read and never really shed her childhood love of dinosaurs. She loved the family dogs and especially loved her cats, Akira and Littlefoot. She was a willing sous chef and was incredibly sentimental, remembering every ritual around holidays and celebrations, no matter how small or complex. Most of all, Grace was a warrior. Gracie was trusting and vulnerable and some people took advantage of her. As much as Gracie would not want to be defined or remembered by her struggles with depression and addiction, she would begrudgingly allow us to try and say something helpful. If you are struggling with addiction or mental health issues, please reach out for help. Both these diseases can be managed with treatment. They are not moral failings or character flaws. For family and friends, please reach out, keep holding them close, don't ever give up. Our thanks to the caring and professional staff of the EMS, and the doctors and nurses of the ER and ICU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. A private interment and gathering will be held in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on Saturday, July 28, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an organization providing service and support to people with addiction or mental health struggles or an animal rescue organization.
