FRIEDA FLORENCE STEVENS May 21, 1925 - July 16, 2018 Beloved Mother of Harold James Stevens of Edmonton, Thomas William Stevens of Chilliwack, BC and Robert Donald Stevens of Vancouver, BC, Grandmother to Sarah, Noelle, Aaron and Kate, Great-Grandmother to Olivia, Samuel, Grace and Holly. Frieda lived an extraordinarily, full life. Raised as a farm girl in Grahamdale, Manitoba with eight siblings, she studied, trained and worked as a registered nurse for more than half a century. She continually upgraded her credentials and served as director of nursing for many years in Selkirk, Manitoba. After retirement in Manitoba, she moved to Abbotsford and worked in an extended care facility until age 70. Then, she dedicated the next 17 years to working with the elderly by serving as the Executive Director of the Abbotsford Peer Support Association. For her many years of public service, she was named Abbotsford Woman of the Year and was nominated for the prestigious Vancouver YWCA Woman of Distinction Award. She was a pillar of strength and an example to all of her family and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
