KATHERINE MCMILLAN Katherine Louise McMillan peacefully passed away on July 23, 2018 at the age of 91. Kathie was born on January 31, 1927 to August and Petra Akre on the family homestead in Strongfield, SK. She was the youngest of seven children which included Lars, Olena, Gunda, Magnus, Hilda and Alfred. She loved to share her wonderful memories of growing up on the farm with family and friends. Katherine was very proud of her strong Norwegian heritage. Kathie moved to Saskatoon with her parents where she finished high school then went onto Business College. After college she went to work as a stenographer. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Stanley Keith McMillan. They lived in Flin Flon, Regina and settled into their permanent home in Windsor Park, Winnipeg. Here they raised their three children, Brian (Lucinda Doran), Gary and Janice (Jim Gallagher). Kathie was a founding member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she met many of her dear, lifelong friends. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to all. Kathie was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her unconditional love and kindness was shared with everyone she met. Kathie was never happier than when she was surrounded by her seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Each one had a very special place in her heart and she was so proud of them all. Kathie was a kind, gentle soul that will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. A private family service has been held.
