BRENDA DAWN SIPLEY
Date of Passing: Jun 24, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRENDA DAWN SIPLEY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our daughter, Brenda, at her home in Carlsbad, California, on June 24, 2018, at the age of 58. Brenda was born in Winnipeg and received her schooling at Weston and Charleswood schools. Her university education was completed at the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science - Undergraduate degree in Computer Science in 1985 and an MBA in 1990. This led her into Information Systems Management, latterly Deloitte & Touche Solutions Group in Project Management. In 1994 she and her former husband relocated to California. Not having her green card, Brenda enrolled in the University of Irvine and received her Personal Trainer Certificate. She competed in the Los Angeles County Triathlon - Series winner, California State Cycling Time Trial Championship and, in 2000, competed at the World Masters Cycling Championship in Austria. In September, 2001, Brenda joined the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. In October, 2005, Brenda was assigned to the Encinitas station where she worked patrol. Later she realized her ultimate calling as a STAR team member with the traffic division. We had three beautiful cruises together and a fourth planned this past December until her father had a fall and, instead, she visited him in the hospital. Brenda's favourite memories of Manitoba were our cottage on Block 9, Caddy Lake; she was introduced to it at six months old and enjoyed it until we sold in 1978; our first house on Marlton Cres. in Charleswood; and, of course, coming to visit us in Lac Du Bonnet and that you could buy Jeanne's cake at our grocery stores in town. A memorial service was held July 6 in Encinitas with a reception following. Brenda's cousin Paul, Calgary, came to be with us. Following the reception there was an observance at Moonlight Beach as Brenda's ashes were scattered at sea, site of the annual Bro-Am surfing competition that Brenda coordinated each year. Brenda is survived by her parents, Mel and Joan Sipley; aunt Joyce Nelson; cousins and family friends. Those who wish may make a donation to a charity of their choice, give someone a hug, pay it forward, buy someone a coffee.... Life Is So Precious.

I met Brenda when we were both doing our MBA part-time at University of Manitoba. We both lived in the Osborne Village area of Winnipeg. Because we worked full-time, we spent many evenings at our respective homes studying for our MBA courses. A favorite memory is her calling me on Saturday nights to take a break from studying and walk over to the Osborne Village Safeway to see if they had marked the donuts down to half-price! Another favorite memory is Brendaās love for cheese pizzas from the White House on Grant Avenue, which she would pick up to use as her food supplies for a weekend at her parentsā cottage. I remember how Brenda would jokingly complain that short girls like me were always dating the tall men, which created a shortage for tall girls like her. Brenda was very bright, a hard worker, and she had a great sense of humor. She was a wonderful friend with a great laugh, always upbeat and cheerful. I lost touch with her when I moved to BC and she moved to California, but Iāve never forgotten what a wonderful friend she was. I was actually telling a āBrenda storyā today to some friends I hadnāt seen in a long time. Then I suddenly wondered if I could find Brenda on Facebook ā but, sadly, I found her obituary instead. I have such fond memories of Brenda. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. - Posted by: Anne Lavack (friend) on: Oct 18, 2022

I went to school with Brenda at Dieppe School grade 7 and 8 all those years ago. Nice gal. Condolences to her family. Funny we both wound up as police in different countries. So sorry she passed so young. - Posted by: Ken Swan (School) on: Aug 30, 2018

My heart and thoughts to Brenda's family and friends. She has been thought of often over the years! Our high school graduating class (1977) held a 40th anniversary reunion social in June 2017. We searched for all of our former classmates leading up to the reunion for over a year. Brenda was one (of many) we could not locate to invite - we would have loved to have seen her again! - Posted by: Judith Gaminek (High School (Grad) Classmate) on: Aug 28, 2018
