CHERYL EILEEN CUSSON (née HOWAT) November 10, 1946 - Winnipeg, Manitoba October 20, 2017 - Calgary, Alberta Cheryl Eileen Cusson (née Howat) of Calgary passed away on October 20, 2017. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a BA in Psychology and Economics in 1968 and was the editor of the first edition of the University of Winnipeg yearbook. From 1969 to 1977 Cheryl worked for the Federal Government in Manpower and Immigration as a counsellor and operations supervisor in Moose Jaw, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Halifax. Changing careers, she moved to Calgary and founded Affairs Party Rentals, where she remained until her retirement in 2007. She loved to play the piano and spent 20 years playing for Job's Daughters International. Her love of music carried over to her daughter and one of Cheryl's greatest joys is encouraging Michèle's opera career. Above all, Cheryl loved to help others. She made a difference to many people through her charity work with Affairs and her desire to listen and support everyone. Her generosity, infectious laugh and unconditional love will live on forever. Cheryl is survived by her daughter Michèle; brother Doug and extended family. She was predeceased by her father Douglas; mother Emily (née Baker); and sister Brenda. A celebration of Cheryl's life through music and poetry will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Freemasons' Hall, 330 12th Ave. SW, Calgary. Memorial tributes may be made directly to The Canadian Mental Health Association or Access Transit Calgary.
