ANNA FURST (nee WETZL) The family is saddened to announce the passing of Anna Furst after a long but courageous battle with cancer. She left us on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Anna was born in Karlsdorf, Yugoslavia on May 5, 1930. She arrived in Canada at the age of two with her mother (Therese) to join her father (Lukas). He immigrated and worked to save the money to bring his family to Canada. Anna was a loving, generous, elegant lady who had style and grace. She was raised in and educated in the North End attending Faraday and St. Johns High School where she later became Head Secretary. She and Cliff were world travellers exploring all corners of the globe, visiting six of the seven continents. She fulfilled one of her dreams by them dancing the Viennese waltz in a Vienna opera house. Anna was an avid reader and very well known and greeted by name at the local library. She was a creative gardener having beautiful rock gardens both at the home and at the cabin. Anna was a talented artist in many mediums including oil and water colours as well as clay. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society attending functions for many years. Her love of the cabin at Malachi showed when she hosted family and friends with great food and lots of laughter. The cabin was where she taught grandchildren to make delicious blueberry pies and adorning the girls with crowns of daisies. Anna will be dearly missed by her husband Clifford, of 66 years of marriage. He was the love of her life, best friend, and favourite travelling companion. She is also survived by her two sons, Erick (Kathy) and Mark (Dagmar), grandchildren, Jason (Lorelle), Dustin (Jackie), Meghan (Brendan), Kara (Wells), Krista (Geoff), Sean, Ryan (Stacey), Matthew, and ten great-grandchildren, Ela, Rowan, Zoe, Hayden, Connor, Teya, Mason Trini, Aidan and Nolan. At Anna's request, there will be no service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Dear Cliff and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful Anna. I worked with Anna at St. John’s High School in the late 60’s and early 70’s at which time I moved out of province and we lost touch. Anna and I were friends during that time and I never enjoyed working with anyone more than I did with her. She was always happy, laughing and a very talented lady. I found out how talented she was when we took art classes together; Anna was totally amazing and I was totally not a painter. I remember her fantastic goodies she would make for coffee break. I can’t think of a thing Anna was not good at. May all of your wonderful memories carry you through this difficult time. R.I.P. my beautiful friend. - Posted by: Gail (Carswell) Meriam (Friend and co-worker) on: Aug 12, 2018

I’m saddened by the passing of my beautiful Aunty, she was a loving, kind and generous woman and I have many fond memories of visits to our home on Vancouver Island and to their home in Winnipeg. I hold very dear 2 pieces of art she made for my parents wedding gift. They are copper portraits of geisha’s and the hang proudly in my home. My heartfelt condolences to my family. - Posted by: Karen Olearnek (Niece) on: Aug 11, 2018
