Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) LAWRENCE BROWN June 30, 1927 - August 4, 2018 With great sadness, we announce that John (Jack) Lawrence Brown passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 91 years. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Florence; his son William; siblings, Richard Nowell and Janat Clemis; and son-in-law Roy McConnell. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Betty McConnell, Carol Szuminsky, Jack, Barb (Steve) Lamotte, Robert (Joanne) and Bonnie (Rod) MacDonald; as well as 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and his sister Pat Fournier. Born in Winnipeg, Jack grew up in the Sturgeon Creek area where he attended Bannatyne School. As a child he loved fishing, hunting and bird watching, which became his lifelong passions. He passed this love of nature on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was a bricklayer and worked on many buildings throughout Winnipeg. For his last 15 years before retiring, he was the bricklaying instructor at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. Jack was one of the founding members of the Assiniboia Game & Fish Association, Assiniboia Junior Rifle Club, and St. James-Assiniboia Historical Museum. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments. A celebration of Dad's life will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Woodhaven Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue. Dad will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care aides at 3E Palliative Care, Riverview Health Centre, for their kind and compassionate care.
