JAKIW (JACK) PARASIUK
Born: Jan 09, 1957
Date of Passing: Aug 01, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAKIW (JACK) PARASIUK January 9, 1957 - August 1, 2018 Suddenly the early morning of August 1, 2018, Jack left us. Jack is predeceased by his father Metodij (Nick) in 1997, whom he loved so much. He is survived by sisters, Mary and Iris of Calgary, brothers, Bill (Gail) of Whiterock, Todd (Suzanne) and Sam of Winnipeg, nieces, Heather, Karla and Kelly of Alta, and nephew Erik of Winnipeg. Jack was born and raised in Winnipeg. At 19 years of age, he left for Vancouver where for many decades he owned or managed various fine dining restaurants. His charm and wit made him perfect for this so many of his customers came back for that reason. All his life he enjoyed meeting new people and learning new things. He was one of a kind and will be missed by so many. Special condolences from longtime friend and his chef, Denis, childhood friend Barry who is now in Vancouver and longtime friend Reg of Montreal. A special thanks to Ray for helping Jack the last few years. Ray will be organizing a celebration of Jack in Vancouver at a later date. Forever loved and never forgotten.

Jack, you will be missed so much in Kerrisdale. I don’t think you realized how many people you touched with your smile and personality. You gave the best hugs and I am going to miss you so much. May you RIP my friend and we will see each other again one day. Xoxoxo - Posted by: Karen and Wayne Telford (Friends) on: Aug 21, 2018

I met Jack at the legion in Kerrisdale in Vancouver. He was the cook there. Good man, good food, many stories. Helped with my mother's 80th birthday. Always called out when he saw you. Miss you Jack. Rest in peace - Posted by: Jim hilton (Friend) on: Aug 20, 2018

I’ve known Jack, and his brother Todd, for many years, and think of them as family. Jack was so full of life, always enjoyed social situations, and usually was the life of the party. Getting together with Jack was an event. He will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Reg (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2018

We are deeply saddened to hear of Jack's departure. Our family has very fond memories of Jack. He use to love to hang with my brother Paul, sister-in-law Della and visit my mother (Olga) who he called "ma". Jack and I (Lynne) went to Luxton and St. Johns. Jack, myself, along with Paul & Della would love to go to wrestling matches. In-fact Jack somehow got the Crushers blood on a piece of paper and presented to me. Kind of creepy but funny. Talking about Jack brought smiles to our faces. Thank you Jack! - Posted by: Lachuta Family Winnipeg (Childhood friends) on: Aug 15, 2018

Dear Todd, sister Susie and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Jack was so much fun, charming and a real joy to be around. Our family loved when Jack visited Winnipeg. We were so fortunate to be able to enjoy his fabulous meals, his laughter and joie de vivre. I had the privilege of seeing his culinary skills in action. I also learned some great cooking tips. A little wine in the pan and a drink for us!! Awesome. May all those you meet in heaven be as blessed as we were to have known you. Sincerely, Lucille, Brian and Joe - Posted by: Lucille Meilleur (Family friend) on: Aug 14, 2018

Jack, or Jackie, was a common thread in the best memories of my youth. At 10 years of age he would jackknife dive off the high board at Kildonan Park Pool, and at 11 he moved up to the 5 metre at Pan Am. He was always in front, or near to, at the go-cart races. Together we delivered fliers for the 1968 Trudeau campaign and wondered what the world would be like when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, and together we watched Neil Armstrong's moon walk with awe. I was with him when he got his CCM Mustang 3-speed, the envy of the neighbourhood, and I was on the field with him when he got his lip split by a hard drive of the soccer ball. We graduated from Luxton School together and moved on to St. John's High. Sharing the same birthday, and Christmas dinner at my home, we explored life with wanton abandon. He was hilarious, loyal, and courageous to the point of reckless, and he was the best friend I ever had. How I wished my family hadn't moved away, and how I wish the phone calls were more frequent. I'll miss you, Jackie. - Posted by: Randy Clinch (childhood friend) on: Aug 12, 2018
