Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAY D. CHRISTOPHER HUGHES June 15, 1964 - July 29, 2018 It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear son and little brother, Jay D in his sleep. Jay will be profoundly missed by his mom June; siblings, Marshall, Sheldon (Rosella) and Misty Hughes-Newman (Wyatt Newman); nephews, Dustin (Jenny, Hudson and Harper) and Dallas Wolas. He was predeceased by his dad, Frank in 1983, Grandpa Julian Kenzik in 1982, Grandma Anna Kenzik in 1985, Grandma Dorothy Hughes in 1966, Grandpa Maurice Hughes in 1968, Auntie Frances in 1966, Auntie Eileen Kenzik in 2005, and brother-in-law Bill Wolas in 2003. Jay was born in Winnipeg and was the youngest of us four. He grew up in Crestview and attended Voyageur Elementary, Ness Junior High and John Taylor Collegiate. Jay was a lover of classic rock and spent many hours listening to it. He ran track in school and played a lot of tennis in his early adult years. He continued his love of these sports as an adult, but instead of participating, watched them on TV. Cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. The immediate family will have a Celebration of Life for Jay at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, please consider making a donation in Jay's name to a charity of your choice. We love you and miss you Jay. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB in care of arrangements 204.897.4665. Our deepest condolences to the Hughes family. I am deeply saddened at the sudden loss of Jay D. Even though I had not seen Jay in many years, I can still remember his contagious laugh and immense speed on the track and field. We were good friends through our childhood and shared some fun times growing up in Crestview. Jay has left us way too soon and I hope that the family finds some peace in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Chris Witoski (Friend ) on: Aug 15, 2018

Jay was my locker partner at Ness Jr. High. I remember him being a fun and nice kid. So sorry for your loss. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Patrick Hopper (School friend) on: Aug 11, 2018

I’m deeply sorry for your loss. JD and I were friends in high school and although I have not seen him in many years, I have found memories of him from my youth. He had a wonderful sense of humour and warm smile. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Crystal Taylor (Friend ) on: Aug 11, 2018
