Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST HAMILTON PINNELL Died peacefully at Clair Hills Retirement Community on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of Marjorie (McArthur), his dear wife for 71 years, four months. Predeceased by Marjorie in 2014, and his brother Charles in 1980. Loving father of Richard (Elizabeth), Christopher (Leigh) and Jennifer. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Patrick, Stephen, Ian (Kristie), Robert, James, Malcolm, and their children, Malachi, Eliana, Nathaniel and Joshua. Sorely missed by his niece Sandra and nephew Barry (Carol) and their children. Ernest was born and raised in Charleswood, Manitoba near Winnipeg. He was employed by Imperial Oil his entire working life, a service interrupted only by the war years. Ernest joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and was sent to England. Two years later he met and married his English sweetheart, Marjorie, a member of the W.A.A.F. He returned to Canada for navigator training and came back again as an officer. Ernest had many interests: spending summers at the family cottage on Moose Lake, listening to classically trained tenors, reliving the joys of locomotive steam engine sounds and whistles, and doing mathematical puzzles published in the newspaper. He lived in Winnipeg, Kenora, Port Arthur, Toronto, and most recently Waterloo to be close to family.
