VIOLET MURIEL LUND (nee PETTITT) 1926 - 2018 Violet died peacefully with family at her bedside, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg. Violet was born, the second of seven children of Claude and May Pettitt, in Ninette near the shores of Pelican Lake in southern Manitoba on February 3, 1926. She enjoyed an idyllic childhood, skating across the lake in winter, swimming in summer, and playing games at the Sports grounds. She was valedictorian for her graduate class. During Violet's high school years, she met Frank, and after he returned from war, they married in Winnipeg in 1946. Violet was an excellent homemaker. She loved to cook and bake and thoroughly enjoyed a good meal. She enjoyed her garden, the birds, reading, knitting, crocheting, and walking, and especially enjoyed a glass of red wine. Left to survive Violet are her sons, Brian (Edmée), and Gordon (Marilyn); grandchildren, Michelle Hamilton (Shane), Remi (Julie), Shawn McGillivray (Sean), Garnett (Ashlee); six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Brinley, Myles, Lindsey, Garnett, and Eastyn; as well as brothers, Ron (Anna), and Leonard (Karen); and sisters, Kay Fierce and Verla Dumas. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2006; brother Gordon and sister Betty Goreski. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Golden Links staff for their exceptional care and support over the past three years. At Violet's request, cremation has taken place, and a private gathering will be held by the family in her memory. Flowers gratefully declined. My memories of your mom are that she was a very kind and gentle lady, and she always made me feel welcome at your house. • On behalf of Kel, Terry and myself and our families we offer condolences to you all. I was saddened to hear of Aunty Vi’s passing. I have many fond memories of her from my younger years when I would spend a lot of time with her and Uncle Frank when they lived on Kingston Row. Our prayers and thoughts are with your families at this difficult time. - Posted by: Alana Goresky-Place (Niece) on: Aug 18, 2018
