FRANCES H. COHEN 90 She loved stories. Telling and conjuring, reading, hearing (and overhearing) them. A joyful spirit, Fran died of peripheral vascular disease on September 1, 2018. With a zest for life perhaps matched by Auntie Mame, whether to a proffered martini, fabulous hat, shopping expedition, impulse for a party, or adventure abroad, she reflexively responded: "Why Not!" Irreverent and irrepressible, she loved laughing and making others laugh. Fran devoted years to her favourite cause, Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, for which she masterminded fundraising extravaganzas and became an Honorary Fellow. Theatre, films, jazz, bridge, reading group, OLLI courses; people made her happy. Her verve and singular style proved infectious. Preceded in death by her husband Jerome, with whom she lived in Winnipeg for 53 years after leaving Worcester, MA, Fran is survived by daughters, Paula and Roberta, her sister Pauli, nephews, Barry (Traudi), Michael and Tom (Michelyn) Guld and Joel Guberman (Faithe); nieces, Anne Guld (Greg) and Connie Guberman (Kapri); and great-nieces and great-nephews.
