Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I initially met Garth when I attended first year university at St. Paul's College, and got to know him well when we took pre-med courses together, followed by Medical School. We became very good friends, and he was an attendant at my wedding. Unfortunately, time, distance and circumstances combined to reduce close contact after Medical School and residency. He was a tremendous human being, and I will miss his warm laugh, wisdom and keen insight. My deepest sympathy to his family. RIP Garth. - Posted by: Raymond Auger (Friend) on: Sep 24, 2018

  • As a classmate of Garth in medicine, a constant feature was that warm smile and easy laugh! Garth was a great athlete and then a great physician/surgeon. Wishing the family peace and wonderful memories of a great person! God be with you all! - Posted by: Don Dyck (Friend) on: Sep 22, 2018

  • I met Garth when we were 16 years old on the same football team. Then we carpooled together to the Univ. of Manitoba and matriculated to Medical School. His picture captures it - a hearty laugh and joyful spirit who went on to a career as a beloved Orthopedic Surgeon and teacher. I will miss him, until we meet again. - Posted by: Larry Wood (Friend) on: Sep 14, 2018

  • I knew Garth for over 60 years. Initially at St. Pauls HS I knew him as a very tough lineman on the football team. We then went through Medicine together and I did not see him for many years after graduating. But as we began to gather at reunions, I grew more and more fond of the conversations. He was a very thoughtful man and I will miss him. Go with God Garth. - Posted by: Brian Ayotte (friend) on: Sep 08, 2018

  • Dr. Garth took care of me, when I was a young teenager, during a lengthy stay in the Winnipeg Children's Hospital in 1970. I will always remember the warmth and caring nature he had, and respected him greatly. The picture with his obituary is exactly how I remember his huge ever present smile. It does not surprise me that he had a lengthy and successful career because his passion shone through so early in his time as a resident at Children's. Thank-you Dr. Garth. My condolences to all his family. - Posted by: Allen L. (former patient) on: Sep 08, 2018
