H. MICHAEL POLLITT-SMITH On August 29, 2018 Dad passed away at the Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, MB, with his beloved wife, Marilyn, by his side. As a young man Dad travelled the world, but loved best the life he built with Marilyn in Crystal City, their small house filled with books, cats, music and art, and the elaborate garden that they tended together throughout their 48 year marriage. Dad will be remembered as a dedicated teacher to generations of students at Thomas Greenway Collegiate Institute, a devoted husband and a caring father to three kids (Merinda, Hugh and "Camira") who will miss being served his quick wit at each family dinner. The family extend their thanks to Dr. Nejad and the staff at Rock Lake Hospital for the care and compassion Dad received during his stay. In accordance with Dad's wishes cremation has occurred and no formal service will be held. Donations in his memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, the Crystal City Benevolent Association Inc., Box 462, Crystal City, MB R0K 0N0, or the charity of one's choice.

As an old friend of Michael's father, I'm saddened to only now hear of Michael's passing. I knew Michael for many years, and always enjoyed the occasional visit to see his beautiful garden and to chitchat with him and Marilyn in Crystal City. Sometimes, as we age, between illness, distance, and time, we lose touch. I'm sorry now I didn't make more of an effort to keep in touch with Michael. My condolences to Marilyn, Michael's children, and brother Rick and family. - Posted by: Tim Connell (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2019

Our sincerest condolences to Mr. Smith's family & friends. I say Mr. Smith, because that's how I knew him, as a fun and patient teacher at TGCI. I enjoyed his wit. I knew he was a good man and am grateful for his guidance during those years. He will be fondly remembered. With regards, Carol Hébert - Posted by: Carol Hebert (Former student) on: Sep 11, 2018
