Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ALLAN REID July 12, 1930 - September 5, 2018 William Allan "Al" Reid passed away September 5 at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen, his son Phil (Liz-Ann), his daughter Lori (Fred), grandchildren, Reece, Chanel (Yilmaz), Phil Jr., Brittany, Ashley, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Al was born in Winnipeg and lived here his whole life. As a young man, Al set three goals for himself, all of which he achieved. He wanted to become a Shriner, he wanted to obtain a pilot's licence and he especially wanted to own a fishing resort. This desire was driven by his passion for the outdoors, and for 50 years he owned and operated premier fly-in fishing resorts across Ontario, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. He was a pioneer in the industry, often flying his plane to uncharted waters in the Canadian wilderness. Stork Lake was his first camp. With great grit, talent and tenacity he built this into a successful business, which he ran for 17 years. Al went on to run a network of some of the finest fly-in fishing resorts in Canada. Chief amongst these was Knee Lake Resort, which he built from the ground up. From the drafting of the blueprints to the laying of every log, Al had a hand in every aspect of its construction. It was his greatest professional accomplishment. The camp was in a league of its own, a luxurious wilderness resort which offered some of the best fresh water fishing in North America. For all his business success, Al will be remembered most for his loving devotion, unfailing integrity, and generosity of time and spirit to all his family, friends and everyone who worked with him. We love you Dad, and hope you have found the greatest fishing spot of all. There will be no service at this time. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion shown to our dad by the staff of West Park Manor Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Neil Bardal Funeral Home - 204-949-2200

Dear Lori, We want to extend our deepest sympathies on your father's passing. Although it is of little consolation at this sad time, it must be gratifying to know that he lived such a wonderful full life. How fortunate for you to have enjoyed spending time with this great man all of those years. He was such a huge part of Reece and Chanel’s life. Rick always spoke so highly of your father's many skills and accomplishments. Condolences to your Mom, Mrs Reid as well, may your Mom find the strength and courage to move forward, embracing her happy memories of their life together. We know that you and your family will miss him dearly. Love, Farley and Carol Pollock - Posted by: Carol Pollock (friends of family) on: Sep 22, 2018

I am very sorry to hear about Al's passing away. He created some of the very best fishing lodges in Canada and him and Phil knew how to make them work. I hope Phil and Lori and their families are doing OK during this very stressful period in their lives. R.I.P. Al - Posted by: Bruce Bowles (previous employee) on: Sep 09, 2018
