SHANNON GRAY Shannon Gray passed away from lymphoma on September 3, 2018 at the age of 28. Her loving husband, Aaron Trachtenberg, was by her side, with sister Jenny, mother Kim, and father Randy close by. Shannon shone so brightly. She lived life with courage and exuberance while practicing gentleness and kindness in each interaction. Her passing is a loss to everyone who met her, and those who never had the chance. Shannon was a gifted athlete and a fierce competitor. She was an accomplished nursing graduate who was looking forward to helping others. She loved the outdoors, whether walking in the Assiniboine Forest or hiking with Aaron in the Rockies. Shannon was a passionate dancer. She was a true animal lover and will be sorely missed by her yellow lab Rosie. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road. I had the privilege of meeting Shannon a few times. I didn’t know her well but well enough to see her beautiful soul. This breaks my heart hearing this news and I had hoped so much she would be able to win this fight. Much too young. My condolences to the family! - Posted by: Theresa (RMT) on: Sep 24, 2018

Take solace in the knowledge that your love, support and encouragement were cornerstones in her battle against her disease and that she is now pain-free and at peace. I had the honor of having Shannon as one of my nursing students in her third year of the nursing program at RRC. Shannon was a lovely student, striving to do her best throughout the entire clinical rotation. it was a community based clinical, where we went in to an elementary school as a public health nurse and put on a health fair. Shannon developed an excellent, fun, interactive presentation on "brushing your teeth" for grade 4/5 students where she started off smiling with a prosthetic "rotten" set of teeth in which the students laughed out loud, setting up the presentation to be fun and memorable. Shannon was an "A" student, yet was humble and open to feedback at any time. I would like to send prayers to her family, whom I never met but heard her speak of, and know that her light shines in her memories. My deepest condolences for your loss. - Posted by: Tara Roberts (One of Shannon's nursing instructors) on: Sep 11, 2018

Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss. My thoughts and heart are with you Kim, Randy, Jenn, Aaron, and little Rosie. The brief times I met Shannon, it was apparent that she was someone so very special. Her smile and her energy were undeniable; no doubt her loss is felt by everyone who had the honour of meeting her. - Posted by: Lindsay Pawlyk (Friend of family) on: Sep 10, 2018

Randy, Kim and Jennifer and the remainder of the Gray family. I have no words that can diminish the loss of losing such an incredible individual. Please know that I am thinking of you all and send my sincerest and heartfelt condolences your way. There are no words to ease the pain but I can say that she will always be by your side and only a memory away! She represented kindness and compassion and I will take that with me and remember this wonderful young lady always! - Posted by: Sue Rehberg-Reid (Friend) on: Sep 08, 2018

The Shannon I knew was most definitely an amazing person inside and out. I knew from the moment we met, she would accomplish her dream of becoming a nurse and she would make a fabulous one too. She had a presence to her, she would light up the room and was always smiling. She was always so thoughtful and kind. Shannon didn’t leave the skills lab without thanking the lab instructors for their help. My heart goes out to Shannon, her family and close friends. I am definitely thinking of you!
