We travelled around together and played partners in pool, we played at Obie Billiards on Main St. and at Red's downstairs in the Mall Hotel on Portage Ave. Also at Orpheum Billiards and Crystal Palace and numerous bars in Winnipeg. He was a good friend and will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Jay Dame (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2021

He was my favourite grandpa, and we never got mad at each other. When he was sick I never understood it and before he passed away, he asked for a glass of water and I said “get it yourself”. Now that I look back at it, I feel so bad. I miss him so much and I think about him everyday. - Posted by: Aidan dumas (Grandson) on: Jan 20, 2021

Fast Freddy, as we have known him, was my Dad's friend, Albert Sumner who passed March 4, 2009. Driving around with my Dad we would often stop and chat with Freddy on the street. Dad would always give him $20 whether he needed it or not and Freddy was always grateful "Kitchi Meehwetch!" After my dad passed I continued in Dad's memory and also stopped when I'd see Freddy on the street. One day I called out "Hey Freddy! You're still walking around?!" And he said "Well of course, I'm a tough guy" I laughed as I said "you sound like my Dad" then he returned "you look like your Dad." And we both laughed. I thought of him today and wondered where he was and if he was okay. My heart broke when I learned he left us. - Posted by: Laverne Sumner (Fan) on: Oct 24, 2018

We always seen Fred on the transit buses around Wpg. Forever looking sharp in any style he rocked. Our first time engaging with the Dumas's was at the " Triple S Fair" in Selkirk MB. We (as a family) camped many years at the grounds. The other times I myself met the family was at a very special place; Trinity Lutheran Church as I was the Chair person of the non profit service offered there. Our hearts are heavy for the Family as a great Elder has now made the journey to the spirit world. Forever will his memory be riding on Transit buses with us! May you RIP FRED! - Posted by: Colleen Peebles & Chris McKay (Faces in passing Throught the North End....) on: Oct 22, 2018

I met "Fast Freddie", at I believe it was called Orpheum Billiards, on Fort Street , in about 1977. He beat my pants off LOL, :)...one heckuva snooker player :)...at the time I used to play a lot of snooker and pool at House of Champions on Main Street....saw him a dozen and a half times over the next 35 years, and I always stopped to say Hi. As fate would have it,..I was the one that helped him get his old age pension and CPP. He was ALWAYS polite , respectful, and a gentleman.......and always neat and dapper,...I liked him. Yes , Freddie was a hustler ,...but it was always very obvious,....and he always won, and lost (on occasion) with grace....yes, Freddie made this world a better and more interesting place...never mean, never at all violent, great verbal skills, an intelligent, polite, well spoken man. I am sad to hear that he has moved on. - Posted by: Craig Simmie (acquantance/friend) on: Oct 20, 2018
