In the 60’s I lived on Johnson Ave in Elmwood. CORNEL & his family lived in an upstairs apartment at the rear of the corner store at Johnson & Brazier down the street from us. No matter how often we went for or took friends to knock on his door for an autograph he was always happy to meet new fans & provide keepsake autographs. A true class act. - Posted by: Garry Leach (Former neighbour) on: Sep 04, 2022

Great memories from the 1960s. Watched him in the Blue Bomber uniform on the football fields in Winnipeg and in the Winnipeg parades. Knew his sisters and his family for many years and his brother Peter who was one of our great friends also. We also knew his parents. My wife Verna would go to their place when they got older to help clean the parents Edmonton home. Many good memories of all the sisters, and especially Elsie whom We continued to see when we travelled west to Cloverdale BC. Nice family. - Posted by: John Baloun (friend) on: Oct 22, 2018

We will always have fond memories of living next door to Cornel. One Sunday morning he came to our door with a bag full of wild mushrooms. He said “ok I brought you these because you know what to do with these, only condition is you need to share”. There are so many stories of living on Glenway that we always speak of. Our deepest condolences to all the family. RIP friend. - Posted by: Kathy Kostycz (Neighbor in Winnipeg ) on: Sep 23, 2018

We lived across the back lane from Cornel when we were children. He was a great neighbour and treated us like family. We remember when he took us fishing - what a great time that was! Tannis and Tracey we are thinking of you at this time with sincere sympathy. Glenn, Ralph, Dan and Monica Fil - Posted by: Monica Fil (Neighbour) on: Sep 22, 2018
