DONALD JAMES (DON) LAWRENCE Peacefully at his home on September 17, 2018, Don Lawrence passed away at the age of 71 after a brief struggle with cancer. Don will be greatly missed by his close friend Doug, his work family at Mr. Furnace, and special neighbours, Mike and Kelly and family. He will also be missed by his friends at the Southdale Family Restaurant where he was a regular. Don was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Helen and by his aunt Marie. Don was born in Toronto on October 4, 1946 and adopted into a loving family. He spent his youth in Dauphin and in the St. James area in Winnipeg. His career path included work in sales for a book publisher and as a dispatcher for Roto Rooter. He was a valued member of the team at Mr. Furnace, where he worked as a dispatcher prior to his passing. Don loved animals and especially large dogs. When it became difficult for him to care for dogs, he adopted Billy the Cat who was a wonderful companion. A celebration of Don's life will take place at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street on Thursday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Don may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Don was a great friend and always had story to tell. He loved his house and especially his BBQ. He was a great Dad to all his pets and took great delight when Billy the cat arrived.
