My late father's older brother, my uncle Saul Herscovitch, was born in Southey. My father, Ruben, was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, in 1916. Like Mr. Friedman, he also wanted to join the navy but was told he could not, not being able to swim. He then joined the RCAF. I have a feeling that my father, uncle, and Mr. Friedman knew each other, if not in the early years in Saskatchewan, then certainly overseas during the war. My father, an artist, was a gunnery instructor in England, using his talent to draw diagrams, but he also flew in the Lancaster bombers. - Posted by: Judy Herscovitch (no family connection) on: Jan 12, 2019

I want to say that Lloyd was a wonderful confidant and refuge for me the last seven years as we continued to have spiritual conversations and connections. He was truly a gentleman like his cousin, my late husband. I will truly miss our talks and his overwhelming knowledge of the Jewish faith. Oh hear O Israel, the one god, Jehovah. - Posted by: Audrey Segall (Relative) on: Nov 17, 2018
