Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVINCENZO (GINO) ACQUISTO December 13, 1934 - October 13, 2018 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincenzo Acquisto, aged 83, cherished father, devoted nonno, brother, uncle and friend. He joins in heaven his beloved wife Calogera "Lulla". He was also predeceased by his parents, Michele and Croce, sisters, Carmela, Vincenza and Giuseppa. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Rosanna (Frank) Guzzi, Giuseppina "Josie" Acquisto and Michael (Stacey) Acquisto, and grandchildren, Alessia, Michael, Lorenzo and Matteo. He also leaves to mourn his brother Francesco, sister Rosetta and their families, brother and sisters-in-law in Casteltermini, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Vincenzo was born in Casteltermini, Sicily. He grew up in the countryside where he enjoyed tending to animals and being outdoors. He served in the Italian military and then briefly worked in Germany. He married Lulla in October, 1964 and then immigrated to Canada in February, 1965. Together they started a family and formed many bonds with friends and family that still hold true today. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed wine making, baking his own bread and making homemade sauce, which we enjoyed as a family on many Sundays. He deeply treasured time spent with his family, and the special moments with his grandchildren. Although he was soft-spoken, he had a witty sense of humour and loved to tell jokes and stories. He was a kind, caring and gentle man. He demonstrated his kindness and compassion when he took care of our mother and nonna during her prolonged illness. He was a loving and selfless father who always put his children first. We wish to express our gratitude to Dr. Penner and Jim in the Hypertension Clinic at HSC for the longterm care they provided. We also wish to thank the staff of the St. Boniface 5A Cardiology Ward, the Misericordia Health Centre and the Seven Oaks Hospital staff who cared for him during his brief stay in hospital. The family will receive condolences at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow the mass in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Michael and Alessia Guzzi, Michael, Robert and Frank Acquisto, Steven Cabral and Joshua Pereira. Honorary pallbearers are Lorenzo and Matteo Acquisto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vincenzo's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Resterai sempre nei nostri cuori.
