MELVYN SINCLAIR (CLAIR) CONOVER February 7, 1949 - October 8, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clair, on October 8, 2018 with his wife by his side, at the age of 69. He was predeceased by his parents, Isabel and James and his in-laws, Elsie and Bernie. Clair is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Judi; brothers-in-law, Doug (Linda) and Gord (Darla); nieces and nephew along with his sister Lin and brother Wayne. Clair spent most of his career in the food industry. Later in years, he worked the desk at Kildonan Golf Course. He loved to golf and was a member at Elmhurst for a few years. He enjoyed sports and watched many golf and hockey games on TV. Holidays were always a great time, going down south with Elsie and Bernie. Christmas spent with family was a special time for Clair and Judi. He was a people person who always had a joke to tell and made many friends who will miss him dearly. He was known as a great guy and enjoyed many days at the Garden City Food Court with old friends and new. Clair came from humble beginnings. Judi's family became his family and he was looked upon as a son. His mother-in-law always called him "my Sonny." He was a loving and caring husband. "I loved him with all my heart. May you rest in peace until we meet again." Lovingly remembered by your family and Judi www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • I fondly remember Clair when I was a little girl and he worked across the street from my dad's restaurant the Windmill on Selkirk Ave. Clair use to tell me that my dad would ask him to take me to the store to get a pair of shoes and I would end up trying them all on, with Clair watching over me for hours. He was such a warm, kind man with a great sense of humor. Always had a great joke to tell you. My sincerest condolences to Judi, his family and friends. Angie, Eileen and the old gang from the Windmill. Give my dad a big hug for me Clair. - Posted by: Angela Damianakos (Friend) on: Oct 24, 2018

  • I cherished the time we spent together working at Superior Food Importers. Clair hired me in the late 70's and quickly became great friends. I was always amazed at the huge network of people he knew when out on sales calls or we'd run into while out for lunch. Clair was always dressed to the nines & took pride in his appearance which is an attribute he past on to me & his many business associates. That picture of a smiling Clair is an image that will stay with me & brings back fond memories of him. Rest in peace my friend! Al Jones, Ottawa - Posted by: Al Jones (friend) on: Oct 21, 2018

We would gathered there after work with our friends for a beer and play the pinball machine. • Clair and I were like brothers, we have been best friends for over 55 years. We lived and worked together while we were both 20yrs old.. ohh the stories!! I can still see him trying to outdraw Marshal Matt Dillon on every episode of Gunsmoke.. and his imitations of "Festus" or Grampa McCoy (Walter Brennan) were priceless. What a character and true pal he was to so many people. Judi, please accept our heartfelt condolences, with love Greg and Peggy Janz - Sherwood Park, Alberta - Posted by: Greg Janz (Long time Best Friend) on: Oct 20, 2018
