Born: Feb 16, 1958
Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT DONALD (BOB) ROMANYK February 16, 1958 - October 11, 2018 With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Bob, who suffered with glioblastoma (brain cancer) over the past year. Bob graduated from McGill University in Montreal (1984) with an MBA (Finance). He soon moved to Toronto, started a family and established his investing business with a particular passion for supporting Canadian junior mining companies. Always kind and helpful, he generously shared his time and interests with a wide range of people. His colourful character full of brilliance, wit, humour, curiosity, love of life, people and books never went unnoticed. To give someone a book or read a special paragraph was a great sign of his affection. Dearly mourning his loss are his mother Carole Romanyk, sister Doreen (Ted), wife Handzia, daughter Julianna, with many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. "Tonight when you look up into the stars, know that there is room for all of us." Vichnaya Pamyat! Forever Remembered! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kensington Hospice, 38 Major Street, Toronto, ON M5S 2L1, for their exceptional care.

So very sorry to hear of Bob's passing - found out recently - and it was sad to hear. Had connected with Bob at a local Starbucks and he certainty was a character. Very bright, funny & truly unique. The love he had for his daughter showed through in his conversation. Rest in peace Bob. Mike Rudolph - Posted by: Mike Rudolph (Friend in passing) on: Feb 12, 2019

Bob was my friend. Not a friend I knew terribly well mind you, but a friend all the same. I met Bob several years ago on a business trip to Toronto, or was it a flight in a small plane to see a mining project or maybe at a presentation by a junior exploration company. No matter. His mind was a joy to behold. No question went unanswered. And such a memory for details. And then there was the fun side. I have several wonderful memories of Bob doing things in jest that will make me smile for as long as I breath. Bob spoke frequently about his wife and daughter – he was so proud of his little girl. Bob was a great character. I’ll miss him. - Posted by: Declan Costelloe (Friend) on: Nov 29, 2018

I was with Bob in the MBA program at McGill. Always cheerful and willing to help. Bob was sunshine on bleak Montreal winter nights! May his soul rest in peace. - Posted by: Rajiv Saxena (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2018

Dear Bob, I will never forget the moments we shared and the fact that you knew me better than I knew myself after knowing me for a few seconds. You realized I was a savant when I didn't even know what the word meant. Thanks to Emil for introducing us that day as I clearly remember Emil mentioning I'm bringing Bob to Red Cloud and your going to like him. You would in one question to the speaker expose him to be either a decent human or a fraud. If he was a fraud you would see him stutter to try to find the words to counter what you said. It was hilarious. I also will never forget how you came out last year to Mines and Money and we talked to each other with our eyes. No words were needed between us as we are "different." It is because of you Bob that I have dedicated to giving away 2% of my net worth each year. Hopefully I will be able to start a charitable fund in honour of you as you are an inspiration to me. Nice to see you at church the other day with my father beside you. I see you know him too now. Love you brother! Mike Kosic - Posted by: mike kosic (friend) on: Nov 04, 2018
