ALEDA BERYL CANCILLA June 15, 1925 October 19, 2018 It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mom, Granny and Great-Granny, Aleda "Beryl" Cancilla, on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the age of 93. Left to mourn Beryl's memory are her children, Gerry (Sharon) Cancilla and Kathy "Casey" Jacques; her grandchildren, Stewart (Carolyn) Cancilla, Heather Cancilla (Phil), Kristi (Dan) Braund and Cory Jacques (Hayley); and her great-grandchild Arthur. Beryl is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Bill, Jim, Val, Pam, Cheryl, Leanne, Allison, Greg, Sabrina, along with their families. Beryl was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Alfred, of 68 years in January, 2017; their son Ron; her parents, Stan and Inez Bowie; brother Bill; and sister-in-law Mil Bowie; and brothers-in-law, Leonard, Bud, Gordon and Jack. Beryl was born in Portage La Prairie and spent her early years in MacGregor, Manitoba, moving to Winnipeg at the age of five. She worked at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce until 1949, eventually meeting the love of her life, Vincent Alfred Cancilla. They were joyfully married on February 4 of that same year. While raising their three children Beryl was involved with church teas, Cubs and Brownies and enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting and quilting. She also took great pleasure in the pastimes she shared with her husband including golfing, curling, bowling and traveling to campgrounds and casinos in Canada and the United States. There are also many memories of special times spent at West Hawk Lake with family that will forever keep her spirit alive in our hearts. Mom loved get-togethers and being with family brought her much contentment. The family would like to thank the very special nurses and health care aides at Donwood Personal Care Home for their care, compassion and support for our Mom. Knowing how well Mom was genuinely loved and cared for during her time at Donwood means more to our family than words can express and we are forever grateful for their kindness. We would also like to extend a very special thanks to Carol Fletcher and Jeff Cook, the ministers at Transcona Memorial United Church, for their endless support for Mom as well as for our family. At Mom's request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transcona Memorial United Church where Beryl was a member for 59 years.
