He was a good friend to me Susan and my husband Bill years ago. We had a few beers together. He was funny and happy man, and I know his ex-wife Anita. She was good friend, but I haven’t seen her in years. So sorry that my brother ERNIE told me that George had passed away. I felt for him. I went threw it as well. Condolences to Anita....girlfriend Linda and to all his family and all his friends So sad to hear about poor George. A close friend for over 20 years, George was one of the most proud, kind, and caring people in our lives. Proud of his family. George spoke of his children. Sharing on occasion of what they had become. Proud of Houston Properties. Linda and George have been an important part of the family at HP. Always doing their best to lend a hand anyway possible. Looking out for our best interests, there was no bigger supporter and protector of Sherri and I. Kind to people. In his no bullshit manner, George has always been a huge supporter of those in need. Sober for more than 25 years, George took his responsibilities seriously, helping many needing support. Sometimes it was an ear to listen. Other times it was a helping hand. And occasionally a temporary loan for those in need. Caring to those he valued the most. Linda, who has been the center of his life, for as long as we have known George. His trucking buddies who he met regularly for coffee. Lunches that George and I have shared regularly over the years. I will miss them greatly. For my sweet friend Karen and your siblings and family... I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. After recently losing my Mom, I understand the pain of losing a parent all too well and my thoughts and heart are with you during this very difficult time. My dearest Baby brother George, or as I fondly liked to call you, Pouch. I have many wonderful memories of you. I can still remember you at the age of two with your chubby, short, little legs chasing after me on my way to school in the afternoon and I had to turn around and walk you back to the house. You were not too happy! I will miss our many conversations and all the laughter we shared. Know you were deeply loved George. Until we meet again. All my love to you from your sister Jane. - Posted by: Jane Lakey (Sister) on: Oct 30, 2018

My heart aches for your loss Linda. We will always be here for any moments of weakness that you may endure. You and George have been part of my life here with H.P. for 9 years! Half of special time that both of you have been together. I will miss George at our Christmas, Golf Tournaments, and employee lunches. I still think George should have showed up as our Christmas Ho! Ho! I will not hear his voice asking for our "Fearless Leader". I don't have my own personal golf caddy driver either. All the times we gathered as employees were joined as friends and family also. My last conversation with George was why no cane or walker? He was too tough! I said it doesn't make you weak to have an aide. You are protecting yourself from further pain. I looked into his eyes and I could see him tired and fighting to be the George we always enjoyed. I have tears for you Linda and I will miss him dearly. Dear Uncle George, I have very fond memories of you as a young child. You were my first crush! I was six years old and thought you were the most handsome man I had ever seen! And yes...I was a very precious child! You were a man of very few words. I always thought of you as a kind of big , soft, safe teddy bear. I didn't see much of you in later years but I never forgot my first big crush! Walk softly on your star filled journey my Sweet Uncle. You will be missed by all that knew you and loved you. Till we meet again. Your niece, Diane. - Posted by: Diane (Rodstrom) Iwanicki (Niece) on: Oct 30, 2018

Linda, we are all so sorry to hear about George. It is not easy to lose your life partner and you guys had a very special relationship and your love for each other was always evident. Everyone at HP wants you to know that we are here to support you. George has been a valued co-worker and friend to all of us at HP and we will miss him terribly. George and Linda started with our company over 20 years ago and George quickly became the owners right-hand man and he valued George's support AND opinions (good and bad). Their working relationship grew into more of friendship and he will miss George. I treasured George's opinions and always teased him about his "grumpy old man" demeanor. He was a big gruff teddy bear and I will miss him terribly. Your Fearless Leader Lynn - Posted by: Lynn (co-worker (fearless leader)) on: Oct 30, 2018
