MARTIN HILL Martin Hill passed away peacefully at home in Victoria on October 5, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He will be deeply missed by his wife Marnie. He leaves to mourn as well: aunt Mercedes Sharp and uncle Carl Sharp of Thunder Bay; sister and brother-in-law Ruthann Watson and Cam Six and their son Jon of Calgary; brother and sister-in-law Larry (Don) and Linda Watson and their children, Isaac and Tirzah of Edmonton. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Martin Hill. Martin was born in 1957 in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario, and moved to Winnipeg with his mother in the early 1960s. As a single mother, Margaret raised a fine son and was very proud of his achievements. Martin and Marnie met in 1980 and quickly became best friends and loving partners. They were married in Winnipeg in 1984, and in the years since shared the adventure of building careers and exploring new communities as they moved first to Calgary, then Vancouver and finally Victoria. Martin worked with a variety of organizations during his career, ranging from small local firms to large multinational organizations. His passion was helping his clients succeed in business, and their success was his priority. Many wonderful friendships grew from those business relationships. He was a man of great integrity and a valued advisor to many. Difficulty with speech in the past few weeks prevented Martin from connecting with friends and colleagues, and he missed that. A special thank you to the family and friends who have supported Martin and Marnie during the past year. As Martin wished, no service will be held. Friends can honour Martin by supporting local business and live music. Condolences may be sent to inmemoryofmartin@telus.net.
