DONALD C. ERICKSON With sadness, we regret to announce the sudden passing of Don Erickson on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Don is survived by his daughters, Janet (Bill) Montemurro and Donna Erickson; son Paul (Jennifer); as well as his granddaughters, Katelyn, Hannah and Sarah. The youngest of 12 siblings, Don is also survived by his brother Lester. He was predeceased by both parents, four sisters and six brothers. Born July 3, 1936 in Rose Valley, SK, Don was raised in the Scrip District and Rose Valley until he joined the R.C.A.F. in 1954. He took his release in 1957 and worked underground for a year at Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting in Flin Flon, MB. He re-enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1958, the same year he married Lorette (Lori) St. Pierre and was posted to Winnipeg. Don spent time at 2-Wing, France and 4-Wing, Germany between 1963 and 1967, before returning to Winnipeg. He was transferred to Cold Lake, AB in 1974, before returning to Winnipeg a third time, with a posting to Air Command Headquarters in 1983. He took his release in 1989, at the rank of Master Warrant Officer. He was employed by Bristol Aerospace for three years until he retired in 1991. Don was active in sports, playing hockey until succumbing to various injuries. He also enjoyed curling, playing golf and snooker well into his 70s. He enjoyed the outdoors, a periodic hunter and avid fisherman, and he most loved the socializing around any activity, especially hosting Saturday night fish-fries around the campfire. In respect of Dad's wishes, no funeral will be held. He will be cremated, and a family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's name to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society.
