MARCEL BRUNEAU With a heavy heart the family of Marcel Bruneau share the news of his passing on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the age of 84, from complications that arose from multiple myeloma cancer. Marc was born on November 1, 1934, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Lionel and Helene Bruneau. Gone but not forgotten before him was his wife Nancy (2009); and sons Ricky (1961) and Gerry (2001); along with his parents; and siblings Jacques and Gaston; Nancy's parents Harry and Irene Hawkins; brother-in-law Bill; and sister-in-law Carole. Dad was lucky enough to find love a few times in his life. After Nancy passed he and Kay Goodman became very happy life and travel companions. They explored extensively to South America, Africa, Europe and Asia for five wonderful years. Kay passed away quite suddenly in October, 2016, which Dad took very hard. She and her daughters were a treasure in our lives. More recently Dad has been spending a lot of time with a special lady, Rosemarie Kvern. They played bridge together along with many other good friends several times a week and they also enjoyed dining out and day trips. Left to mourn him is his daughter Wendy (Jim) and daughters Julie and Jenna; his granddaughter Amanda (Gerry's daughter) and her mom Joanne; his son Tony (Carol) and children Matt (Joanna) and their daughter Annelise; son Chris (Amanda) and daughter Nikki (Ben) and their daughters Madelyn and Kinsley. He also leaves behind his sister Jeannette; sisters-in-law Joyce and Kathy; brothers-in-law Hal (Nancy) and Mike; along with many nieces and nephews. Dad enjoyed 20 years at the cabin at Falcon Lake with his family, spending many years fishing to catch the big one (that he never did!). We spent many Christmases there snowmobiling for hours as a family. Mom and Dad worked hard at their electrical contracting business for 35 years while raising their family. After retiring Mom and Dad travelled in the winter, settling in Texas as Snowbirds in Pine to Palm Trailer Park for 28 years, where they made many wonderful friends. Dad's hobbies included wine making, cooking for family and countless friends, fishing, hunting, canoeing and cycling. He loved playing any card game, especially bridge and cribbage. Dad did everything with gusto he worked hard and played hard, was always smiling and making the most of life. He was happiest outdoors and he was a dedicated family man extraordinaire! His family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his medical support teams, including Dr. Minuk and his wonderful nurse Alexis, as well as the kidney and pain management specialists and hospital support at Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital. You truly did make a difference for him over the last 18 months In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences. Bernie will miss his friend of 44 years. We shared many happy hours together as neighbours, visits to the lake, Pine to Palm, fishing at Gammon. Marc and Nancy were extremely generous. We appreciated their help and friendship through the years. - Bernie & Susan - Posted by: Bernie & Susan Snezyk (Friend & neighbour) on: Nov 26, 2018

  • Weny, and family....we are saddened to hear of your dear father's passing...he sure did live his life to the fullest and packed a lot into 84 years. We still cannot believe was 84 - he had the energy of a bunny. We met "Mark" in Pine to Palm park in Weslaco Texas about 12 years ago when we joined the bicycle club. What memories we have of places Mark took us all too. Always smiling, he was a joy to be around, and he did so much for folks. Sending you our condolences and may memories of much brighter days surround you, along with family and friends. Mark, may you rest in peace...your earth on work is done. Sincerely, Rob and Linda - Posted by: Rob and Linda Freeman (friend) on: Nov 25, 2018

  • Fran and Art have had the good fortune of spending many wonderful hours with Marc in Weslaco, Texas, in Winnipeg and traveling together with Marc and Kay. A man who only had kind words, never critical of anyone nor anything, and always intent on having a good time and ensuring others had a better time. No one made better ribs. Marc wanted to get everyone together for any occasion and was the first to volunteer for whatever had to be done. He will be missed by his many friends. Our condolences to the family. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Art & Fran Majkut (friends) on: Nov 24, 2018
