Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON STIMPSON Gordon Ernest Stimpson peacefully passed away on November 21, 2018, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 83. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary; sister Mary; brother-in-law Ron; and his beloved friend "Kay". Gord grew up in Kelwood, MB and later moved to Winnipeg where he met and fell in love with his wife, Marlene (nee Henders). Marnie and Gord welcomed Sheri (Garry Glugosh and family) and Kelly (Alan Cade) before moving to Brampton, ON for Gord's work in 1963. They then welcomed their son Rick (Chris) in 1964. In 1974 they moved back to Winnipeg where they welcomed five grandchildren: Wesley, Brendan Cade, Jordan, Ashley and Megan Stimpson. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Elaine Latter (and family) and brother-in-law Geoff Lester (and family). Gord was an avid singer, carpenter, outdoorsman, gardener and pickler of fruit and root vegetables. He loved his tropical fish and enjoyed spending time with his special four-legged friends, Fluffy, Suzie, Sam, and most recently, his beloved Megs. While he worked a variety of jobs, his focus in life was to provide and care for his family and community. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the compassionate caregivers on Wards 4B and 6A who had such patience with our Christmas carols and his favourite hymns. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 at the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB. If friends so wish, donations in memory of Gord may be made to either The United Church in Meadowood or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Thinking of Marnie and the family at this difficult time. Gord was such a kind, thoughtful, true gentleman who was so very helpful to all members in our Pace Classes. It was always a pleasure to share time with him and he was so helpful with his sage advice. I will remember his humour, his beautiful singing voice and his sharing and preparing anyone having joint replacements. Take care all. - Posted by: Lois Keizer (Friend and classmate) on: Nov 26, 2018

My condolences to the Stimpson family on Gord's passing. I have many fond memories of him, dating way back to the late 1970's when I met Rick and got to know the entire family. Special memories for me are spending many cold Winnipeg winter nights down in the basement at the house by the fire, watching reruns of Mash (Smash as Gord called it) and the Love Boat, the many parties that Gord and Marnie hosted over the years, and my favourite, Gord walking down Bittersweet Bay in his cutoff jean shorts, armed with a chainsaw, to help me when a tree fell on my car in my driveway during a bad windstorm. He was a wonderful man and I am so glad to have known him over the many years. May he rest in peace!
