MYRNA JUNE REIMER (nee DURHAM) March 7, 1940 - November 20, 2018 Myrna passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on November 20, 2018, at the Concordia Hospital. Myrna was predeceased by her son David; her parents, Owen and Madeline Durham; her brothers-in-law, Walter and Paul Reimer; and a niece Donna Delorme. Left to mourn her passing and cherish fond memories are her husband of 59 years, Ernie; sisters-in-law, Hilda, Elsie, Carole, and Dorothee; and her special cousins, John, Kristina and family, along with many nieces and nephews. Myrna was an accomplished musician who played the violin, piano, guitar and clavinova, all with an exceptional touch. At age 14, she played the violin as a guest artist with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. She performed at many charitable functions in and around Winnipeg with her best friend Barbara Hambleton. Myrna was happiest in her home. She was an extraordinary homemaker. She loved to entertain her family and friends and hosted many functions over the years both at the cottage in Sandy Hook and in her city home. She loved animals and enjoyed the nature of the cottage. Along with her husband, they fed and tamed many animals and birds. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of the doctors, nurses and staff of 2 NE at Concordia Hospital whose help and support was exemplary during the seven weeks she was in their care. In keeping with Myrna's wishes, she has been cremated, and no funeral service will be held. A family and friends gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or to any other charity of your choice.

I am a first generation Canadian - my family spoke Polish at home; it made me a very shy girl. When I entered Daniel McIntyre Collegiate - Myrna Durham and Barbara Wileman - instantly made me their friend. Myrna's history since high school is extraordinary. She added a lot to life, for me in my teens and it appears that she continued beyond that to reach out to people with care, smiles and love. You and Barbara were great friends to me when I needed friends. Never to be forgotten. - Posted by: Karoline (Koobay) Berkefeld (High School Friend - 10th to 12th grades) on: Nov 03, 2022

So sorry for your loss Uncle Ernie.. She was truly loved and blessed to have you in her life. It was a great to see her for the 1st time in a while a few weeks back.. Her smiling face and loving, tender nature will never be replaced. The great memories we all have of our childhood. Many holidays. Running around as kids singing when Myrna and Mom played the piano.. She is with David now.. the son she so deeply missed. She is gone but will never be forgotten. I'm so sorry for your loss Ernie. Although we weren't in touch often of late, I was sure glad I got to see her and her smile again a few weeks ago. Her smile made everyone smile and I'm sure she's making someone smile right now. Nothing but good memories of my favorite "aunty" Myrna. My deepest condolences uncle Ernie. - Posted by: Bruce Hambleton (Godson) on: Nov 24, 2018

Ernie, I just read Myrna’s obituary, I think you did a lovely job in writing it. It is very informative and a nice tribute to her life. Myrna was a true and constant friend, completely non-judgemental and supportive always. She was always welcoming and helpful to myself and my children. You both welcomed the neighbourhood boys into your home for some basement hockey, treats and I know Sanjay had a couple of naps between periods. Myrna taught Shereen piano, fed her and showered her with love, priceless gifts. And of course Myrna and I shared many coffees and stories. My love and thanks to her. - Posted by: Dawn Guliani (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2018
