DAVID CORY WOOD November 12, 1970 - November 14, 2018 With heavy hearts the family says farewell to David Wood. David was born November 12, 1970 in Winnipeg. He spent his childhood in Elmwood, Laclu and Fort Frances, spending some of each summer at Crow Lake with his grandma. In Fort Frances he discovered a love of big trucks and machines and decided at the age of 12 to be a truck driver. He was proud of being the youngest licensed professional truck driver in Ontario. He graduated from driving school, days after his 18th birthday and maintained a clean driving record throughout his 30-year career as a driver. As a young man he met the love of his life, Gloria and whether times were easy or tough, he always let us know how very much he loved her and their three children, Samira, Randi and Tony. He was overjoyed later on the arrival of grandchildren, Railynn, Aaron, Everlee and Emily. The family moved to Morinville, AB in 2008 when David began driving in the oil fields. On days off he enjoyed watching Nascar races, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, hockey and cooking great food for his family. David is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Samira (Brian) and Randi (Mitchell); son Tony; grandchildren, Railynn, Aaron, Everlee and Emily; parents, Rebecca Wood and Robert Allcorn; brothers, Alex, Wayne and Lawren; mother-in-law Isabella Guiboche; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends; all of whom were important to him and who would receive a big hug when he saw them. He was predeceased by grandparents, Roy Wood, Beulah (Wood) Olson and Bill Olson; father-in-law Harold Guiboche; and uncle Don Allcorn. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway in Winnipeg. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • I have lots of great memories of David when he was growing up in Winnipeg. He would come and stay at his Grandmother's house and in no time he grew up. We had a lot of time together and lot of memories. To this day I can't stop myself from grinning when one day David was staying at Grandma's house and I returned home after a performance at the Opera and left my stage makeup on, I knocked on the door and opened my eyes wide in the window, he came to the window and opened the curtain and screamed, running to the front door and down the street before he realized it was me... I love David and miss all the things we did. My heart goes out to Gloria, his children and grandchildren, his mother Rebecca, family and friends. - Posted by: Ralph Wood (Uncle) on: Nov 25, 2018
