LYDIA PENNER February 17, 1927- November 22, 2018 Peacefully, with her husband by her side, Lydia Penner (nee Tessmann), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Lydia is predeceased by her mother Anna Peters; her father Hermann Tessmann; three brothers (one in infancy), and several in-laws. She is survived by her loving husband, John; her children, Anne (Ed), Hilda (Tim) and Rudy (Glenda), their families; one sister, one brother and two sisters-in-law. Lydia was most grateful for her husband of 66 years, John, her family and the freedom she experienced in Canada. Lydia's faith was strong; when diagnosed with cancer, Lydia leaned more and more upon her faith in Jesus Christ, knowing that soon, He would take her home to be with Him. Lydia had a heart of gold; she loved her family and friends deeply; her loving smiles, gentle voice and warm hugs will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Mom's friend, Margaret Epp, for her love, care and support. The family would also like to thank all of the staff in the St. Boniface Palliative Care ward. Your kind and gentle care are greatly appreciated. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

My sincere condolences on your loss. I pray that memories of happier times will see you through your time of grief! God gave us memory so we might enjoy roses in winter." I am a respected researcher of Mennonite genealogy, and would like to connect your loved one to her/your family and ancestry, which I am unable to do given the information in her obituary. Although your mother's heritage is well documented, major sources show no information about her husband/your father's family. My on-line project contains over 475,000 individuals, including nearly 10,000 Penners. Please contact me at an appropriate time if you are willing to share/exchange details. Thank you. All information about living individuals is suppressed to protect your/their privacy. - Posted by: Bob Strong (None known) on: Dec 08, 2018

Our whole family loved Mrs. Penner so much. Mrs. Penner and my Mom were so close, she treated my Mom with such kindness. She was such an important part of our family. With love to such a wonderful lady. Candice Stearns - Posted by: Candice Stearns (Hatskin) (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2018
