Date of Passing: Dec 05, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD (RICK) JOHN FREDERICK March 28, 1949 December 5, 2018 Peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones, Richard, age 69, passed away on December 5, 2018. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 49 years, Heather. As well, his children, Shawna (Chad), Aurora (Heath), Jason (Val), Tamara (Craig), and his precious grandchildren, Wade, Hunter, Rhianna and Brooklyn. The son of John and Victoria, Richard, was born and raised in Point Douglas, Winnipeg. During his youth he was active in sports, loved the outdoors and traveled many places with his special aunt Frances and uncle Tom. Rick's career at Federal Pioneer provided various opportunities over the years. It was also the place where he developed many lasting friendships. As lake life was calling him, Jessica Lake Transfer Station was his next opportunity. He really loved interacting with all the visitors every day. Not only was he in the place he loved most (the Whiteshell) he was doing what he enjoyed. Richard was a family centered man. As a husband, he adored his wife. As a father, his family meant the world to him. He did so much for his family and was always there to celebrate everyone's accomplishments. He would often be found coaching baseball, soccer, hockey, ringette or driving the boat for waterskiing. He loved gardening, the great outdoors, fishing and boating. Rick also had a very special love for his dogs including his grand-dogs. Rick always made time for anyone that needed a hand and volunteered with a variety of causes including anything to do with the Whiteshell, water levels, fish, security, etc. And near and dear to his heart, donating the gift of life (his blood) as often as he could. A loving man with a gentle, kind and giving heart best describes Rick. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dear family friend Deb Carmichael, who has supported Dad and our family through the toughest of times. A special thank you to Jeff - PNA, Dr. Alexander and his team for the compassionate care received at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. Our appreciation goes out to the staff from the Tyndall building, especially Dr. Antonenko and Jenn Dann. Please join us in celebrating Rick's life on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at The Church at Pine Ridge, Garven Road and P.R. 207. In lieu of flowers, donations would be graciously received by the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or cause of your choice. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
