JOSEPH FRANCIS MOSKI May 12, 1953 December 13, 2018 With heavy hearts the family announces the untimely passing of Mr. Joseph Francis Moski, aged 65 years, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Joe was predeceased by his grandparents, Fred and Julia Procopchuk; father, Frank; wife, Linda; and sister, Brenda. His lasting influence will be cherished by his mother, Elsie; siblings, John and Donna; children, Robert and Corin; grandchildren, Cori and Eric; great-grandchild, Luke; nephews, Cole and Michael; nieces, Zoe and Phoebe; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Born on May 12, 1953, Joe worked for many years as a mail carrier and superintendent for Canada Post, Winnipeg, before retiring in 2009. He was highly regarded by colleagues and upper management alike and served his considerable staff as a respected mentor as well. In his youth, Joe played hockey for the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club (C.U.A.C.) and was an integral member of the team that won the Provincial Juvenile Hockey Championship by defeating the Flin Flon Bombers. At the early age of eight, Joe was introduced to the sport of golf by his father, Frank, getting the jump on the game which ultimately developed into Joe's prolific athletic passion. Joe and his dad enlisted as original members at the Bel Acres Golf & Country Club, where Joe played almost every day of the week, and at times several rounds per day, for numerous years. Over his lifetime, Joe connected for six aces (holes-in-one) and won a number of club championships. During the winter months he travelled to San Antonio, Texas, with his good friend, Mike Holland, and other golfing buddies from Bel Acres. Although in recent years health issues prevented Joe from pursuing his lifelong passion for golf, he lately began walking and cycling and, in his spare time, enjoyed reading, solving crosswords, unscrambling the Free Press Jumble and watching most televised sports. He also began to cultivate culinary skills and anticipated creating new dishes he had seen on the Cooking Network, or else replicating recipes made famous by his Baba, his mother and his aunties (the "shenka," especially). Like his father, Joe was somewhat reserved in demeanor and possessed that discriminating eye for fact or fancy. He always provided an opinion (or more) when prompted. Joe had a great sense of humour and was generous with expending time in service for others. Our family thanks the Intensive Care Unit at Grace Hospital for its dedicated medical efforts on Joe's behalf. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, The Winnipeg Humane Society or to a charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pamyat

Sleep well brother Joe Joe, the memories from Bel Acres will stay with me until I see you again. You were one of the good ones brother, with all of our crazy antics, one thing stayed true, our love for one another, true friendship was sought by many but found by few! May you and Linda watch over all that mattered. Love you pal, just knowing you’re not there anymore hurts my heart! RIP Joe - Posted by: Tom ince (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2019

I am sorry to see Joe go so early. I golfed with his father a few times in my years in the 80's at Bel Acres. Joe was part of the elite group of golfers at Bel Acres. On the weekends, this elite group would be golfing and hoping to represent Bel Acres in the Monday Putter inter-club competition. Besides Joe, there would be Mike Holland, Rick Skelton, Bing Shearer, Ron Goral, Kevin Nicholson, Reg Matheson and I sorry if I missed someone else. At Bel Acres the Men's opening and closing were real serious events as there was a lot on the line. Whereas at other clubs, you might win golf gloves or golf shirt, at Bel Acres the winning team would win the green fees for the season. Besides there were lots of money bet on the teams. In the late fall, Joe would be in the large group of golfers playing snips. I remember following this group many times. At times, there would be a dozen players playing at once. I remember Joe quite well and his golfing buddies. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: colin dederick (fellow golfer from Bel Acres) on: Jan 05, 2019

Joe and I started carrying mail at the same time, many years ago. I fondly recall him and I being assigned to work downtown often helping each other. Later in our careers we reconnected and I truly appreciated our chats and memories. He is a kind hearted, giving individual who will be sadly missed. My condolences to the Family. I felt so sad when I read of Joe’s passing as I remember him well even without working directly with him. His smile brightened us all and he gave it freely, he was a superintendent, but never made you feel you weren’t his equal, rather you always felt good after talking with him. My last encounter with Joe was at Deer Lodge as he was visiting his Dad. We had a great conversation bringing up many precious memories from our working days at the Post. I will forever remember him with a smile, as that’s how we said goodbye and wished each other well. My condolences to the family through this difficult time. - Posted by: Sandy Jewell (Friend and fellow Posti) on: Dec 29, 2018

Our deepest sympathy to Joe’s family. We enjoyed many good times together over the years. Bob enjoyed golfing with him when he was a member at Bel Acres Golf Course and all the times they played in the Grey Owl Cup at Clear Lake. Rest in peace Joe, you will be missed and not forgotten. One of the very few great supervisors that I worked for at Canada Post. Joe was very honest and fair to all his carriers and was equally respected. Deepest condolences to John and family. - Posted by: Terry Dmytryk (Friend and co-worker) on: Dec 29, 2018

Words really can't express the loss and sadness I feel knowing you are gone and our hours of talking on the phone about everything from sports, to day to day life, to when you taught me how to swing a golf club or how to cast a fishing rod are over but I will never forget those phone calls we had and those memories we made. I would give anything to see your smile and to hear your laugh one more time, you were like a 2nd father to me. The love I had for you was unconditional and it will carry on till we meet again. I will cherish the time I had with you growing up as a little boy to just a week ago as a grown man, as I cry these tears, as I write this the memories are flooding my mind and I am so grateful and proud to say you were my uncle and I hope you are in a better place with Gigi, Aunty Linda and my mom Brenda. I'll miss you uncle, I know you always wanted the best for me and you were always there for me no matter what; you will hold a special place in my heart. Until we meet again I love you and you will be greatly missed by many, check in on me from time to time. Love you always, your nephew Cole - Posted by: Cole LeMesurier (Nephew) on: Dec 18, 2018

In my time at Canada Post there were a small group of supervisors that stood head and shoulders above the rest; Joe was a part of that group. Combining smarts and a great sense of humor made Joe a lot of fun to be around. In subtle ways he inspired people to be their best. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Brad Cressman (co-worker) on: Dec 18, 2018

Joe was one of the supervisors at Canada Post who was a straight shooter who you could trust. I got along well with Joe, he had a great sense of humour and beneath that gruff exterior he was a compassionate and empathetic man, I think a very good man. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Jack Christian (Fellow Postie) on: Dec 17, 2018

I worked with Joe for over 10 years. He was so good to work with, he was extremely concerned with great customer service, was fair with everyone, played no games and empowered supervisors and carriers to do their jobs. I always felt appreciated. Rest in peace Joe! - Posted by: Linda Benedictson (Co-worker for over 10 years) on: Dec 17, 2018
