RITA LILY SCHMIDT (nee BRUST) With the Lord December 13, 2018 With immense sadness, we announce the passing of Rita Schmidt on December 13, 2018 peacefully surrounded by love and family. Rita left us the same way she lived her life, with dignity and in grace. She always knew what was needed, she put others happiness in front of her own and always put a smile on her face undeterred by her own adversities. Rita is deeply missed by her husband Harry, son Brent (Kristiana, Victoria and Alexandria), her daughter Lorina (Kevin and Owen), and her son David. She also leaves behind sister Annie, brothers, Harold (Marg), Walter and sister in love Irma (Wally and family). On behalf of Rita, our family would like to extend a sincere thank you for all the love, support and prayers that she found so meaningful. A special thank you to the wonderful team at CancerCare Manitoba and her longtime physician, Dr. Hilderman and staff. Rita felt a great compassion for those in need. To help keep her warmth alive, please consider bringing warm socks or mitts to the funeral and they will be donated to the Union Gospel Mission in her honour. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg.
