ALVENA WERNER (nee SACHVIE) "Please Lord no more suffering for Mom." On December 19, 2018 God answered prayers. Mom snuck into the Arms of her Heavenly Father just shy of her 95th birthday. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Marilyn, who was her companion and care giver since her husband died in 2001. She missed him so but was never left alone as her daughter honoured her father's wishes, "look after Mom". She will be missed dearly by her granddaughter Alana, Grant and great-grandson, Fynn, whose constant visits brought enormous joy to her life. What an honour and blessing it was to share our lives together. Left to mourn is her son Robert, his family, one brother August, and two sisters-in-law. Alvena was predeceased by 11 siblings, and a number of extended family members. Born January 15, 1924, baptized and confirmed in Green Bay, Manitoba she grew up in a family of 13 children on the farm. Alvena met Harold Werner at the early age of 15, and at 24 they married, with two children to follow. Alvena exemplified hospitality as visitors were always welcome in their home. Her hobbies were quilting, sewing and gardening with her husband. Alvena worked hard all her life. Serving the Lord was her top priority. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Avenue, with viewing prior to the service, and reception to follow. Interment at Brookside Cemetery on Monday, December 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Please meet inside the cemetery gates. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Rest now Mom until we meet again.
