MELVIN KOSSACK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melvin Kossack, beloved husband, father and grandfather on December 13, 2018. Mel is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Bill (Karen), Dennis (Alicia) and Kristen Marino (Gio); his grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, and Brooke; his grandcat Luna; his nine brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Mel was predeceased by his mother and father, Lillian and Harry Kossack. Mel was born on June 13, 1938 in Selkirk, MB and spent his early years on the family farm near Libau, MB. In 1964, Mel married his wife Betty whom he spent 54 years of his life with. Leaving the farm, Mel and Betty moved to Kenora, ON where he worked on the construction of the Trans-Canada Highway. After moving to Winnipeg in 1967, Mel found his true passion operating and driving a cement mixer truck which he loved for Building Products Concrete & Supply, working hard for his family until his retirement in 2015. Mel was very passionate about his family and took a lot of pride in our achievements. Mel was also an avid sports fan and could be seen cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Winnipeg Jets. His last days were spent with his family at his side and he will be missed by us all. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 24, 2019 at the St. Norbert Community Centre at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the hemodialysis staff and the medical staff of 4B at St. Boniface Hospital for the care they provided to him. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel's name can be made to the Kidney Foundation (Manitoba Division), Diabetes Canada, or the Winnipeg Humane Society. ejcoutu.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Betty and family, I was so saddened to learn of Mel's death from Diane. My apologies for not knowing earlier. I just found out two days ago. My thoughts are with you as you travel this new path in your life. John and I also had 54 years together. It was a wonderful journey. I will hopefully get to see you in the near future, as you certainly don't live far from me. All the best as you go through this time of grief and fine memories.
