JOYCE MARY ELLIOTT Joyce (Joy) Mary Elliott (nee Neilson) went to be with her Lord December 26, 2018. Born and raised in the North End of Halifax, Joy met her husband George when he was stationed there in the RCMP Marine Division. They lived in several smaller communities in Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and what is now Nunavut, finally settling down in southern Manitoba where they lived in Stonewall and then Winnipeg. Although Joy lived most of her life far from there, there was always a piece of her heart that remained in Nova Scotia. She always remained a proud Haligonian. Joy had many interests and loved walking, reading, gardening, and animals (while there were several cats in her life, dogs seem drawn to her and were always visiting). Joy enjoyed running a successful clothing consignment store in Winnipeg for a number of years. However, above all Joy loved helping others. She always had time to help someone in need or to provide words of encouragement when they were needed. Joy was predeceased by her husband George and beloved son Mark. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell (Judy) and Keith (Leslie), brothers, David (Cecilia) and Victor, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. The family wishes to express a very special thank you to all the staff at River Park Gardens. We are very grateful for the exceptional care and kindness you provided to Joy. Joy was always a person of great faith, and although she will be deeply missed we know that she is in a better place. There will be a private burial service and a notice of a gathering for friends and neighbours to celebrate Joy's life will follow. As a memorial, please consider donating to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of Aunt Joy’s passing. The last few months have been difficult for you and Aunt Joy. Dad really missed “their chats on the phone.” I hope you find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, but is now joined with George and Mark. My deepest sympathy to you. Sincerely, Cindy Whalen - Posted by: Cindy Whalen (Niece) on: Dec 31, 2018
