DR. HAROLD OLU PETERS September 19, 1942 - January 2, 2019 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Harold Olu Peters, who passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Tuxedo Villa on January 2, 2019 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Grace; his brothers, Femi and Austen; and his sisters, Funlayo and Lola. His legacy will live through his wife of 48 years, Catherine; his children, David (Andrea), Catherine-Grace (Sally), and Harold (Victoria); and his grandchildren, Kieran, Leah, Cora and Octavia. Born in Aba, Nigeria in 1942, Harold received his early schooling at King's College in Lagos, Nigeria before departing to London, England in 1960 to study law and was called to the bar at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1965. Harold's true calling later led him to Dublin, Ireland where he would meet his love Catherine and pursue a medical degree at Trinity College Dublin, graduating as Dr. Harold Olu Peters on December 10, 1970. Harold practiced medicine for 46 years to follow with a career that would eventually lead him and his young family to various rural communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before settling with his family in Winnipeg and finishing his career at a practice with the team at Riverwood Medical Centre. Many thanks goes to Dr. Piotr Czaykowski and his staff at CancerCare Manitoba and to the caring staff at Tuxedo Villa, in particular to those in station two and the physiotherapy team who helped us provide care for Dad in the final months of his life. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harold's name to CancerCare Manitoba (cancercare.mb.ca) or to the Alzheimer Society Manitoba (alzheimer.mb.ca). E.J. COUTU & CO. • We are privileged to of known Dr. Harold Peters for 35 years, meeting the family while they loved on Holly Ave. in Winnipeg. He was a very kind, gentle man, who loved and cared for his family to the utmost. A happy memory of years ago: A family and friends gathering in St. Vital Park and Harold greeted everyone with his jaunty cap looking very dapper! With fond memories, the entire Klayh families send their deepest sympathies to all the Peters families. Love from Bonnie and John Klayh - Posted by: Bonnie Klayh (Family friend) on: Jan 08, 2019
