DANIEL ROBERT (BOB) WINSLADE Peacefully, with his family by his side, Bob passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 32 years, Amber; children, Brad (Allison), A.J. (Jessica) and Kyle (Brittany); grandchildren, Vivian, Taylor, Aidan and Chevara; his sisters, Val (Heinz) Warkentin, and brenda; and brother-in-law Les (Yvonne) Brown. Born and raised in Winnipeg in 1960 to Barry and Verna Winslade, Bob was a Westwood boy. He played the trumpet in the Westwood Concert and Jazz bands and the Assiniboia Students Band. After graduation he worked many jobs before finding his true calling as the Corporate Safety Officer for MTS. Bob remained in this position until 2005, when he went on disability due to MS. Bob had a quick wit and a dry sense of humour. He loved spending time with his family, teasing them and making them laugh, creating a lifetime of amazing memories. He took pride in teaching his boys the important life skills that allowed them to become the responsible, good men they are today. Bob was also happy watching his grandchildren play and grow into wonderful young people. The Winslade family spent almost every winter weekend at various arenas, as all three boys played hockey. If they were not at a hockey rink, it was at the ice race track or working countless hours on his ice racing car. Bob "Iceman" enjoyed participating in and watching motor sports and collecting racing memorabilia. He loved cars, especially Datsuns, and collected MANY over the years. He was a member of various car clubs such as High Rollers, Winnipeg Sports Car Club, and Datsun Autoclub of Manitoba. Bob was always generous with his time and knowledge and was quick to help anyone. He wanted his boys' friends to feel like they were welcome anytime and that they were considered part of the family. He definitely achieved that. He and Amber have many "adopted" kids. On Thursday, January 10, 2019 Bob's funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Special thanks to the CancerCare team at Grace Hospital, and the Palliative team at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be sent to www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
