PETER KEHLER It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Peter D. Kehler on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Golden Door Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Peter was born on April 19, 1923 in Hanover Municipality, Manitoba. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maria Kehler, brother Ed, brother John, brother Henry and sister Mary. Along with his loving wife Regina, he is survived by his son Wayne (Anne), his grandson Bradley Kehler (Amanda), granddaughter Sara Trovatore (Chris), grandson Mitchell Kehler (Gina), seven great-grandchildren, Zoey Kehler, Samantha Kehler, Kiara Trovetore, Adalyn Trovetore, Zane Trovetore, Reagan Kehler and Riley Kehler. He is also survived by his two brothers and one sister, Niel (Iris), Herman (Lorraine) and Hilda. We were blessed to have Peter and Regina spend last Christmas, as they did for many previous years, in Indiana, surrounded by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After retiring from a career as a wood craftsman, putting his skills into making custom cabinets and furniture, he was content to be a general mister fixit. One of his passions was marksmanship and gunsmithing. As far back as 1964 he was a Manitoba Hunter and Firearm Safety Training Instructor. Over four decades he conducted classes and awarded certificates to thousands of deserving graduates. One of his more annoying traits was being a prankster at heart. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the E.J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street.
