COLLEEN RYAN On Friday, January 11, 2019 at Misericordia Place, Winnipeg. Born to Frank and Sarah McKendry in Winnipeg in 1932. Devoted wife of Keith Ryan for 64 years. Colleen took pride in raising her family with Keith at their farm. She was a wonderful mother to Sheilagh, Nancy (Marc), Neill, and Chris (Renee), and grandmother to Pierre and Jacques Arbez, and Haley and Keira Ryan. Colleen also developed special relationships with her friends and extended family. Colleen was loving, creative and elegant to the core. The family home was a rich environment to live in. She contributed to the farm in many ways including the valuable and appreciated skill of creating delicious meals for dinners in the field when Keith, Neill and Chris were out working. These culinary skills were also apparent at the frequent Boxing Day Open House events hosted with Keith at their home. Her talents relating to horticulture and art enhanced her landscape and interior design projects. Many family members received handmade gifts over the years from her which remain strong reminders of her generosity and creativity. Colleen was a member of Sparling United Church for many years, singing in the choir and contributing to their food bank services in the Weston area of Winnipeg. She also was a docent at the Winnipeg Art Gallery for a number of years. Cremation has taken place; there will be no funeral service. Flowers gratefully declined, but if you wish, donations to Winnipeg Harvest would be appreciated by the family. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of Colleen's life, to be held later in 2019. It will be at the family home in Rosser when her blooming garden can remind us of her beautiful life.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I just found this today, although I knew that Colleen wasn’t well, I wasn’t able to get a hold of Keith or the boys in time. A huge regret that I wasn’t able to keep in touch throughout the past 10 years. Truly one of my very best friends and mentor during my youth, not a day goes by in which her knowledge, influence and friendship doesn't affected my life. A truly wise, graceful, loving and beautiful lady. - Posted by: Heather Bage (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2019
