VIOLET MARIE ZERKEE (nee PICH) 1934 - 2019 Our mom passed away suddenly, at home, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. She is survived by her family: sons, Dwight and Grant (Kimberly); granddaughters, Lauren (Matt) and Danielle (Nathan); siblings, Audrey (George), Gloria (William), Peter (Gwen), Annette (Fred) and Maggie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Alex; parents, Paul and Mary Pich; her youngest brother Andrew; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Mom was born February 27, 1934 in the RM of Lawrence, Manitoba. In 1944 her family moved to Maidstone, Ontario before returning to Manitoba in 1945. Leaving home at age 16, she worked as a waitress and nurses aide in Manitoba and as a seamstress in Vancouver before meeting and marrying Dad (Alex) in 1955. Mom loved reading, music, cooking and gardening. Funeral service will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St., Winnipeg, Monday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m.
